REAP Grants for Projects with Residential Tie-In
USDA-REAP projects that share a single meter with a residence must prove their business usage exceeds residential usage, and then subtract out the residential portion from eligible project costs.
Lightshed Residential Impact Calculator
Lightshed created a simple calculator for determining the residential impact on the grant request for such projects.
Information you’ll need to perform the calculation:
Actual Total Meter Usage: The actual consecutive 12 months of recent utility bills showing energy usage. This is your baseline. If you do not have this, you will unfortunately need to have the energy system on a new, second, separate non-residential meter, or else be ineligible for the program.
Residential Usage Estimate: This is determined by the Lawrence Berkeley National Labs Home Energy Calculator.
Renewable Energy Annual kWh Generation: Determined by installer proposal, PV Watts, Helioscope, etc.
Total Project Costs.
The Lightshed Residential Impact Calculator is available as read-only file. Do not ask for Edit access. Instead, simply go to File >> Make a Copy, and use that version. The calculator is easiest to use from a desktop computer.
